Zelenskyy Confirms Ukrainian Technology Used in Shooting Down Iranian Drones in the Middle East
Ukrainian Technology Used in Shooting Down Iranian Drones
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that his country's technology was used to shoot down Iranian drones in the Middle East. This comes after he announced last month that 228 Ukrainian experts had been deployed to the region amid the US-Israel war with Iran.
Operations Against Iranian Drones
In a post on X, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian forces took part in operations using domestically produced interceptor drones against 'Shahed' drones, similar to those used by Russia during its ongoing war on Ukraine.
Success in Shooting Down Drones
Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian forces were able to shoot down Iranian drones in several countries, describing it as a success. He also stated that the operations were not just training missions, but about providing support in building a modern air defence system that can actually work.
Support for Air Defences
The Ukrainian leader said that his country's experts were able to advise how to make air defence systems stronger in countries that opened up their systems to Ukraine. He also mentioned that Ukrainian personnel had been operating in several countries to support their air defences.
Deal with US and Iran
Zelenskyy stated that in exchange for Ukraine's support, his country was receiving weapons to protect its energy infrastructure and financial arrangements. He also mentioned that partners continued to supply Kyiv with air defence systems, including new Patriot systems.
