Ukraine, Russia Engage in Tit-for-Tat Drone Attacks, Killing Civilians
Ukraine and Russia Engage in Tit-for-Tat Drone Attacks
A series of drone attacks in Russia and Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of three civilians on each side, sparking a cycle of retaliation.
Attacks in Vladimir and Dnipropetrovsk Regions
A Ukrainian drone struck a residential building in the Alexandrovsky district of Russia's Vladimir region, killing a couple and their 12-year-old son, while their five-year-old daughter was injured in the attack.
In a separate incident, a Russian drone hit a city bus in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, killing at least three people and injuring 12 others.
Regional Officials Respond to Attacks
Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha described the attack on the city bus as 'not a random strike', while Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko praised rescue teams for freeing and rescuing seven people from the wreckage.
Escalating Conflict
The drone attacks come a day after Kyiv launched significant attacks on Russia's Black Sea export facilities, marking an escalation in the conflict.
Ukraine's air force reported shooting down 77 of 111 drones launched by Russia overnight, while Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed to have intercepted 45 Ukrainian drones, including 19 over the northwestern Leningrad region.
Ceasefire Proposal Rejected
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had offered a ceasefire proposal contingent on Russia halting all attacks on energy infrastructure, but Moscow rejected the offer in favour of an overall peace deal.
Zelenskyy accused Russia of appearing unwilling to agree to an Easter ceasefire, saying 'all times are the same' for the Russian government.
