Paramedics in Lebanon Speak Out After Israeli Strikes
Lebanese Paramedics Share Harrowing Experiences After Israeli Strikes
The BBC's Middle East correspondent Hugo Bachega recently joined paramedics on duty in Nabatieh, Lebanon - a city that has been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict.
According to the paramedics, one in five people in Lebanon have been forced to leave their homes since fighting resumed in March, leaving the city in a state of devastation.
At a ruined ambulance station, a paramedic shared a heartbreaking account of a colleague who was killed by an Israeli strike while on the phone with his wife.
The Israeli military claims that some ambulances and health facilities in Lebanon are being used by Hezbollah, but the paramedics strongly deny this allegation, stating that there is no evidence to support it.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that troops had killed over 20 Hezbollah fighters operating from a hospital compound in Bint Jbeil on Sunday, an area that witnessed intense fighting during the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanon's health ministry has refuted the IDF's claim, accusing Israel of targeting civilians and medical facilities.
