Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Under Attack: Catastrophic Risks Loom
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a dire warning of 'catastrophic' risks if a radioactive release occurs at Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, which has been targeted four times since the United States-Israel war on Iran began over a month ago.
Tehran has accused the United Nations' nuclear watchdog of inaction, an allegation that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) rejects. However, the IAEA acknowledges the situation is of deep concern.
A panel of experts, including Tariq Rauf, former head of verification and security policy coordination at the IAEA, Abas Aslani, senior research fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies, and Alicia Sanders-Zakre, head of policy at the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, discussed the reasons behind the attacks and the risks they pose.
The WHO's warning highlights the potential consequences of a radioactive release, emphasizing the need for urgent action to prevent such a disaster.
