Ex-NATO Ambassador Warns US and Allies to Unite and End Iran Conflict

Former U.S. Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker Speaks Out

Former U.S. Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker has called for unity among the United States and its allies to end the conflict with Iran, citing the need to 'stop the sniping' and come together to find a solution.

During a recent interview on Fox News, Volker emphasized the importance of cooperation and consultation with allies, stating that the Trump administration's actions in the region have been 'completely wrong'.

'We did not inform allies. We did not consult with allies. We did not set up a clear goal, a common operation. We didn't ask them. So, this went off the rails from the very beginning,' Volker said.

Volker also highlighted the strain Operation Epic Fury has placed on relationships between the United States and its allies, with some countries denying the use of jointly operated bases for military flights.

He argued that both sides need to take a step back and reassess their approach, emphasizing the importance of NATO's role in maintaining peace in Europe.

'We need to stop the rhetoric, talk to each other and come up with a way forward on actually opening up the Persian Gulf and ending the war with Iran and restoring security in Europe,' Volker said.

The conflict has also led to tensions between the United States and its European allies, with President Donald Trump signaling a possible reevaluation of the relationship.

Volker expressed hope that a meeting between Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte next week will lead to a more productive discussion about U.S. goals in Iran.

'I think with Rutte behind closed doors with President Trump, we have to talk about what's the way forward,' Volker said. 'What is the goal here now with Iran? Is it regime change or is it negotiating with the regime?'

He concluded by emphasizing the need for a viable plan and cooperation among allies to end the conflict and restore stability in the region.
