BREAKING: Israel's Devastating Airstrike on Lebanon Leaves 254 Dead and Countless Injured
Israel has unleashed a massive wave of airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in at least 254 deaths and 837 injuries, in a surprise strike on the pro-Iranian group Hezbollah.
Massive Destruction in Beirut
Warplanes levelled several buildings in the centre of Beirut, filling the skies with smoke, as Israel bombed over 100 Hezbollah military sites across the country.
Cars were crumpled by the blasts, and buildings were left in flames, with first responders struggling to extinguish the fires.
Hospitals in Lebanon are urgently calling for blood donations, as the ministry of health urges people to clear the streets to allow ambulances to reach the injured.
A man was filmed running towards a struck building, screaming 'There are people inside!'
A 24-year-old calisthenics trainer, Shaden Fakih, expressed her desperation, saying 'I have a friend in this building, Mahmoud. I don’t know where he is. He’s not answering his phone. We need to stop this war, it’s getting ridiculous.'
Iran's Warning
Iranian officials have warned that Tehran could withdraw from the ceasefire agreement with the US if Israel persists in violating the truce in Lebanon.
The Israeli defence minister, Israel Katz, said the two theatres – Iran and Lebanon – were separate and aimed to 'change the reality in Lebanon and remove threats from the residents of the north.'
Katz directly threatened Hezbollah's leader, saying 'We warned Naim Qassem that Hezbollah will pay a very heavy price for attacking Israel.'
The Lebanese capital is filled with chaos, as people rush to check on their families and find their loved ones amidst the destruction.
The international community is left reeling, as the crisis deepens and the death toll rises.
