At Least One Killed in UAE's Habshan Gas Facility Attack
Breaking News
A devastating attack has struck the Habshan gas facility in the United Arab Emirates, resulting in at least one fatality and several injuries. According to local authorities, debris from an air defence interception caused two blazes to break out at the country's largest natural gas processing site.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office reported that the incident occurred after air defence systems successfully intercepted an incoming attack, leading to falling debris that ignited the fires. As a result, one Egyptian national tragically lost his life during the evacuation of the site, while four others sustained minor injuries.
The facility has suffered significant damage, and an assessment is currently underway to determine the full extent of the damage. The incident comes as Iran continues to launch missile and drone attacks across the Middle East, with the UAE being one of the hardest-hit countries in the region.
According to reports, Iran fired at least 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles, and 47 drones at the UAE over the previous 24 hours, marking one of the most intense days of attacks in the country's history. The surge in attacks comes as the head of the Gulf Cooperation Council called on the United Nations Security Council to take action to bring an end to Iran's attacks on the region.
The incident has significant implications for global energy supplies, as the Habshan gas facility is a critical site for the processing of natural gas. Iran's actions have effectively halted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key Gulf waterway through which about one-fifth of the world's oil and liquified natural gas supplies transit.
